A ship's screw drive shaft passes through the stern where it is supported by a bearing. Water is excluded by a seal which is formed by a combination of a bush (01), a folded crosspiece (02), a ring clamp (03) or flange link (04). During assembly, the folded crosspiece (02) has a mid-point clamp (05) which is tightened around the shaft (06). The slip ring seal is formed by two or more V-rings (14).
