1. A medical device for treating tissue, comprising:
an end effector assembly including first and second jaw members, at least one of the jaw members movable relative to the other between a spaced-apart position and an approximated position for grasping tissue therebetween, at least one of the jaw members including:
a jaw housing; andan integrated circuit package disposed on the jaw housing and defining a tissue-contacting surface thereof, the integrated circuit package including:
a solid state heating element including at least one transistor configured to generate heat to thermally treat tissue;a battery configured to supply energy to the at least one transistor of the solid state heating element such that the at least one transistor generates heat to thermally treat tissue; andcontrol circuitry configured to regulate the supply of energy from the battery to the at least one transistor to thereby regulate heat generation by the solid state heating element.
