<p>A photoelectric detector of broken yarn or sliver in flyer or ring spinning machines of the textile industry directs a beam of light of smaller dia. than the yarn in the path of motion of each yarn between feed cylinders and flyers. The absence of a yarn produces a signal which is applied to a delay circuit to close an alarm circuit if the signal is maintained through a certain time interval. This has a more reliable action than conventional detectors, which sense the downfall of a broken yarn, crossing their path. False alarms by foreign bodies interrupting the beam of light are made ineffective. It pinpoints immediately the station where the yarn has broken.</p> |
