The encapsulation, for thyristors and diodes etc. mounted on a fire-proof machine's rotor, consists of a sealed closable housing resistant to electrical breakdown and enclosing all the electronic components (5, 6). (The housing may also consist of several sub-housings each of which is sealed and protected within its own right). The housing, or subhousings, encircles the rotor shaft (1) and has the components mounted radially on its inner surface. The advantage lies in the encapsulation's not increasing the size of the machine, and in being simple to manufacture and in protecting the components from the effects of centrifugal force.
|
