The invention relates to a plastic or elastomeric barrier tube which is intended for collecting and holding off floatable, liquid or solid substances which contaminate stretches of water. On account of their light weight, known barrier tubes float up in moving water so that the barrier is breached. In the two-chamber barrier tube according to the invention, this disadvantage is avoided by flooding a chamber designed to be smaller in relation to the second chamber. The filled chamber sinks due to the greater weight and the total buoyancy is reduced so that a barrier is reliably achieved. The second chamber can be arranged inside the first chamber in a circular or elliptical shape and outside the air-filled, supporting chamber by a welded joint, for example of a flat tube, in the longitudinal direction. Furthermore, the tube can be provided with fastening lugs for attaching further weighting materials.
