Optical receivers with transimpedance amplifiers are frequently operated with different input levels. A circuit arrangement for a dynamic control which is to be provided for this application consists, for example, of a load impedance connected to the input of the transimpedance amplifier and controlled by the output signal of the transimpedance amplifier. The gain in dynamic range which can be achieved by means of such a load impedance is to be extended with the novel circuit arrangement. For this purpose, the input of the transimpedance amplifier is connected to a current sink circuit which is controlled by a control signal derived from the output signal of the transimpedance amplifier. The circuit arrangement is suitable, for example, for optical receivers of optical-fibre transmission links.
