PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a user friendly ink jet recorder by providing an opening for grasping the conditions of a cartridge while covering a recovery unit with a cover. SOLUTION: The ink jet recorder comprises a carrier 4 for holding a cartridge 5 having an ink storage section and an ink jet printer head removably, a section for guiding the carrier 4 reciprocally, a recovery unit disposed closely to the end part of the guide section such that it an approach the nozzle of the ink jet printer head and recede therefrom, and a cover covering the recovery unit and the carrier 4 wherein an opening is made in the cover located closely to the recovery unit and the carrier 4 exists in the position of the recovery unit under waiting state. |
