摘要 An optical cable (OC) mfg. process involves introducing one or more optical fibres (VL1-VLn) and filler (FM) into a tube formed from strip (BD) and stranding an external reinforcement (AD1-ADn) onto the tube, the novelty being that the tube is passed through a torsion preventer (TS) immediately before application of the reinforcement. Appts., for carrying out the above process, includes a torsion preventer (TS) which is located downstream of a tube forming machine (BF) and upstream of a reinforcement stranding machine (EA). ADVANTAGE - The torsion preventer counteracts torsion induced by the reinforcement stranding operation so that unhindered and reliable mfr. is ensured.
