PROCESS AND APPARATUS FOR COATING A SHEET OF GLASS WITH A SOFT SHEET

In order to coat a glass sheet (1) by means of a flexible transparent sheet (2), the glass sheet (1) and the flexible sheet (2) are guided so that they come together at an acute angle alpha and they are made to advance together continuously. In the zone preceding the line of contact of the flexible sheet (2) with the glass sheet (1), a space (8) is created, with the aid of a spacing body (3) which slides on one side on the glass sheet (1) and on the other side on the flexible sheet (2), which moves continuously. The air is continuously removed from this hollow space (8) by suction. The difference in pressure which results thereby and which acts on the flexible sheet (2) ensures the preliminary assembly of the flexible sheet (2) and the glass sheet (1). This preliminary assembly is followed by the final assembly carried out by using temperature and pressure. ……
