发明名称 METHOD FOR CONTROLLING ORIENTATION DIRECTION OF LIQUID CRYSTAL CELL
摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to manufacture a liquid crystal cell with which the determination of an orientation direction is easy and which has the desired orientation direction by irradiating substrates again with UV rags even after injection of liquid crystals and to easily manufacture the multidomain liquid crystal cell having domains varying in the orientation direction by irradiating the respective regions of the substrates with the UV rays varying in polarization directions by using masks. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal cell is manufactured by irradiating the substrates 10, 11 coated with oriented films with the linearly polarized UV rays to previously determine the orientation direction and further, irradiating the substrates with the linearly polarized UV rays to determine the orientation direction different from the initial orientation direction. The orientation direction of the oriented film determined by the irradiation with the UV rays has nothing to do with the initially irradiated orientation direction and is determined by the orientation direction of the UV rays with which the oriented film is irradiated in the final. The partial regions of the substrates 10, 11 are blocked with the masks and are irradiated in this state with the UV rays. Further, the another regions are blocked by the masks and are irradiated in this state with the UV rays having the polarization direction different from the initial polarization direction, by which the multidomain liquid crystal cell is produced.
