PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a defective operation due to a deficient battery residual capacity of the electronic camera by conducting a processing between an external device and the electronic camera after the external device discriminates the residual capacity of the battery of the electronic camera. SOLUTION: A CPU 61 controls each section in the electronic camera 1 based on various programs stored in a ROM 58, converts digital image data into a serial signal and sends the signal to an external device such as an FDD (floppy disk drive) via an I/O port 67. Furthermore, upon the receipt of a battery residual capacity information acquisition command from the external device such as the FDD, the CPU 61 detects the battery residual capacity of a power supply circuit 68 and sends battery residual capacity information data in response to the battery residual capacity to the external device such as the FDD. Then the external device, such as the FDD, discriminates whether or not the processing between the electronic camera 1 and the external device is to be conducted based on the received battery residual capacity signal. |
