The oversized sheet with curved edges is made through e.g. deep drawing. Its edge is cut away to the final dimensions. An air-permeable support is inserted in the sheet, and the curved edges are pressed over it. The assembly is laid into the lower section (5) of a foaming mold, where it is held by vacuum. The upper section (6) of the mold is moved in, fully surrounding the edges of the sheet, to form the final desired shape. Polyurethane foam is introduced, back-foaming and adhering the sheet right up to the curved edges, to the support. Preferred Features: The support inlaid, is not only air-permeable, but also so porous that polyurethane foam (8) penetrates through it. In complex corner regions, the mold has additional rounding dies bending fully around the edges of the sheet. |
