PORTABLE COMPUTER HAVING FUNCTION OF RECEIVING TV SIGNAL WITHOUT BOOTING PROCESS AND METHOD FOR TV SIGNAL

PURPOSE: A portable computer and method for receiving a TV signal are to have a function of receiving the TV signal without a booting process. CONSTITUTION: A portable computer comprises: a TV receiving unit(360) for receiving a TV signal and encoding the received TV signal; a LCD controller(350) for controlling a display of the TV signal; a microcomputer(330) for reading the encoded data from the receiving unit(360) to output the read data to the LCD controller(350) when a certain input for receiving a TV signal is sensed in a power-off state; and a power dividing circuit(342) for supplying the power to the TV receiving unit(360) and the LCD controller(350) under the control of the microcomputer(330). Thereby, a user watches a TV during the maximum time.
