<p>A service providing system, an authentication server, a service providing unit, an authentication method, and a service providing method suitable for displaying an advertisement when a service is provided only to authenticated users, in which an ASP (191) interrogates an SCP (171) whether the user of a terminal (111) has been authenticated or not and provides the service to the terminal (111) if the user has been authenticated, otherwise notifies the terminal (111) to be authenticated by the SCP (171). When the user is authenticated using a WWW browser by accessing the SCP (171) from the terminal (111), a desk top page for that user is displayed at the terminal (111), the desk top page including a personal link collection of the user, a link to the ASP (191), and various banner advertisements which are also included in various forms displayed during authentication process.</p> |
