The invention concerns a method for protecting against lightning an electric installation (2) connected to at least an electric power supply network (3). The invention is characterised in that the method consists in particular in: monitoring atmospheric electromagnetic activity by detecting the electromagnetic radiation generated by lightning strikes; and in disconnecting the electric installation (2) from the network (3) by setting up, between the network (3) and the installation supply circuit (5), a safety space sufficient to avoid any electric arc formation between the network (3) and the installation (2) when lightning strikes the power supply network (3).
