PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a water holding and passing function in an internal humidification system by providing a pore form having a specific average pore size and specific porosity for a humidifying member and by forming it with a glass- like carbon material surface-treated with a surface active agent. SOLUTION: This humidifying member has an average pore size of 1-10 μm, and an electrolyte film is brought into a suitable water-holding state, so that the drop of the penetration rate of water due to an excessively small pore size and the gush of water filled in the pores into a hydrogen gas due to an excessively large pore size are prevented. When the porosity is set to 20-50%, the water is sufficiently held, so the increase of electrical resistance and the degradation of strength due to the excessively high porosity can be prevented. The absorbing and holding of the water in the pores can be smoothly performed by surface-treating, with a surface active agent, a glass-like carbon material manufactured by a method to impregnate a thermosetting resin into two kinds of pulp mixed manufactured-paper sheets and to bake and carbonize it after pressing, and thereby increasing its interface wettability to water. Although a cation-based or anion-based type can be used for the surface active agent, a nonion-based type that hardly affects the electrolyte film is preferable. |
