摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an igniter for an internal combustion engine having the fail-safe function with the simpler constitution. SOLUTION: A battery 10, a coil 11, and a transistor Q1 are connected in series. A capacitor 12 is connected to the coil 11 via a diode D1. The capacitor 12, a primary coil 14 of an ignition coil, and a transistor Q11 are connected in series. A series circuit of a transistor Q21 and a diode D2 is connected in parallel to the coil 11 and the diode D1. A driving circuit 22 charges the capacitor 12 by turning on and off the transistor Q1, and ignites fuel by operating the transistor Q11. The driving circuit 22 turns on and off the transistor Q11 in a state of turning on the transistor Q21 in an ignition period at fail time, and supplies energy of the battery 10 to the primary coil 14 of the ignition coil via the diode D2.
