PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital broadcast receiver that can prevent video contents whose copy is inhibited from being analogically copied, even when a received digital broadcast signal has any format. SOLUTION: A control section 13 discriminates whether or not copying of the received digital broadcast signal is inhibited according to copy inhibit information. The control section 13 controls a format conversion section 9 to forcibly convert the digital broadcast signal into a signal with the standard format of the 480I or 480P independently of the format of the digital broadcast signal. The control section 11 controls a D/A video output processing section 11 to attach a copy protection signal to the broadcast signal in matching with the control above.
