PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a holographic memory device which is capable of rapidly deleting holographic recoding written to an optical recording medium, without impairing the shape of the medium in any way. SOLUTION: This holographic memory device includes a coherent light source (10), a means (8) of bisecting the light emitted from the coherent light source, a device (6) for adding recording information to one of the split light beams, an optical device (7) for intersecting the two light beams with each other on the medium, in order to recording the holographic recording to the recording medium a detector (9) for detecting the light for reproducing the written recording and voltage impressing means (11) for impressing the voltage for erasing the written recoding to the medium. The voltage to be impressed from the voltage impressing means for erasure has such characteristics that the code of a time difference changes and the period thereof is longer than the dielectric relaxation time of the material constituting the medium and that the absolute value thereof approaches 0 as the impression time passes by.
