PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suitably control the light quantity of a flash in flash photographing, independently of whether an image pickup part and a camera main body part are in a directly connected state or a separated state. SOLUTION: An entire control part 218 controls the light quantity of the flash 4 by either flashmatic control(FM control) or dimming control by a light control sensor 12. In the flash photographing, whether or not the image pickup part 3 is directly connected to the camera main body part 2 is discriminated by an image-pickup part detection circuit 209. When the image pickup part 3 is connected directly to the main body part 2, the control part 218 controls the light quantity of the flash 4 by the FM control, and when it is separated therefrom, the light quantity of the flash 4 is controlled by the dimming control. The light quantity of the flash is suitably controlled, regardless of the constitution state of the camera, by performing the light control in the separated state of the image pickup part 3 and the main body part 2, where the reliability of the result of range-finding by a range-finding circuit 308 becomes low. |
