PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a face cutting method in jacking excavation work capable of simplifying difficult gas cut-off work and preparation work. SOLUTION: This face cutting method includes a process for sequentially arranging a sheet piles on both sides of an adit to be excavated, a process for placing a horizontal plate up to the vicinity of the ground surface by repeatedly pulling up one of both sheet piles adjacent to the adit and welding one end part of the horizontal plate to the pulled sheet pile for driving it and welding and driving a machinable cutting horizontal plate in the position matching the height position of the adit, a process for excavating a pit, a process for mounting a pit mouth ring to the cutting horizontal plate, and a process for cutting through the inside part of the pit mouth ring in the cutting horizontal plate by means of an excavation machine.
