PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To overcome a difficulty of bonding of a number of ganged lightweight tiles to a board as one tile group with the aid of connecting paper because the lightweight tiles each do not have a smooth surface or linear peripheral lines, and to eliminate a problem of extremely low workability of a conventional method for facing a large area such as an external wall of a building with the lightweight tiles because the tiles must be bonded to a substrate panel one by one. SOLUTION: There is provided a method for facing the external wall with the lightweight tiles, according to which the lightweight tile 1 containing a number of air bubbles therein has a rear surface in which a diagonally downward facing groove 2 is formed, and a part of a metallic engaging plate 4 is inserted into the groove 2, followed by bonding the engaging plate 4 to the groove 2 by an adhesive. Further, a protruding portion of the engaging plate is hooked on an upper edge 8 of a protrusion 7 of a hooking-type substrate panel 6 for the dry construction method, and then the lightweight tile is bonded to the substrate panel by means of a bond or mortar.
