<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a music generating system which generates music matching an individual's taste. <P>SOLUTION: A user inputs, into a sound data input section 2, sound data or image data in which the user is interested. A melody generating section 4 obtains a parameter that indicates the highest sound among all sounds of the inputted sound data or the like and generates a melody using the obtained parameter. A rhythm determining section 10 determines a rhythm using the melody generated by the melody generating section 4.
