<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera with a built-in flashlight emitting section which prevents operation against the intention of a user caused by simultaneous operation of an automatic shift mode and an information transmission emission mode or prevents degradation in handling. <P>SOLUTION: While an automatic mode is set by a photograph mode setting section 109, even when a command emission mode is set (S256), the camera is operated by ignoring the command (S21, S51 to S55, S33), and display indicating the command emission mode is performed by turning off an illumination emission mark (A).
