PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an arrangement for enabling a light source of an automobile to be well seen under various external conditions.

SOLUTION: 1. The present invention relates to a device and a method for adjusting brightness of a light source, in particular, at least one light source of a tail lamp of an automobile. 2.1 The degree of pollution of a reflecting plate of the tail lamp is detected by a sensor in the field of the automobile. The sensor supplies the environment-specific signal corresponding to the change of the brightness of the light source. 2.2 In order to excellently see the light source under various kinds of external conditions, at least another sensor is provided to detect at least another influential value and to feed the signal to be evaluated together with the environment-specific signal to adjust the brightness of the light source. 2.3 The device is used when an illumination source or the light source must generate the same brightness as much as possible irrespective of the environmental condition.
