PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the thickness of a recording film uniform when the recording film is vacuum-deposited on a substrate using a material having a specified melting point to produce an optical information recording medium. SOLUTION: A material W for a recording layer (recording film) 3 is put in a hermetically sealed crucible 7 having one or more openings 7a and the crucible 7 is disposed in a chamber 8 so that the openings 7a confront a substrate 2. The crucible 7 is heated with a heater 9 to evaporate the material W and the evaporated material is spouted from the openings 7a and vacuum- deposited on the substrate 2. When the deposition temperature, melting point and decomposition temperature of the material W are represented by Te, Tm and Ts, respectively, the relation of Tm<Te<Ts is satisfied in the pressure atmosphere in the crucible 7 in vacuum deposition. The length of the openings 7a in the crucible 7 is equal to or larger than the mean free path of molecules of the material evaporated in the crucible 7. |
