A finger ring or other personal ornament and jewelry obtained by forming a metal plating layer on a substratum metal consisting of a precious metal and working the substratum metal and metal plating layer so as to form a pattern. There is provided a precious metal jewelry produced by forming a metal plating layer with uniform thickness on a top surface of substratum metal and providing a metal plating region where the metal plating layer is exposed, a different light reflection region resulting from polishing of the substratum metal and metal plating layer into fine linear form to thereby realize individually different light reflections and a glossy region of exposed substratum metal resulting from polishing of the substratum metal and metal plating layer with a rodlike polishing tool, these regions cooperating so as to create a pattern. The relevant process for producing a precious metal jewelry as the different light reflection region is formed attains avoiding of monotony around pattern and imparting of flavor as compared with the formation of pattern by masking.
