PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid developer that is superior in characteristics of fixing toner particles to a recording medium, and also that is eco-friendly; and further to provide an image forming apparatus using such a liquid developer. SOLUTION: The liquid developer includes an insulating liquid wherein the toner particles are dispersed. The insulating liquid contains a first vegetable oil and a reaction product produced by an ester-exchange reaction of a second vegetable oil with a monovalent alcohol. Preferably, the insulating liquid contains a polyamine/fatty acid condensation polymer as a dispersant. Also, it is preferable that the contents of the polyamine/fatty acid condensation polymer are 0.5-7.5 pts.wt. for 100 pts.wt. of the toner particles. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
