PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a sensor for detecting generation of moisture of a pane. SOLUTION: This method is to operate in continued sequential repetition measurement cycles. In a first cycle section, a measuring capacitor is charged to a first threshold value by current flowing into a light receiver of a first optical measurement part. In a succeeding second cycle section, the measuring capacitor is discharged to a second threshold value by current flowing into a light receiver of a second optical measurement part. The optical transmitter of the optical measurement part is adjusted to a predetermined rated value to charging time and discharging time over some measurement cycles. The moisture of the pane is determined from an instant deviation between the rated values of the charging time and the discharging time and actual measurement values. An available adjustment range is dynamically suited to an effective state by performing system control of intensity of the optical transmitters of the two optical measurement parts. Furthermore, the upper limit of the adjustment range is extended to a larger value of perimeter light. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
