PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spindle motor which can constrain coming-out of a rotor from a stator when the rotor is rotating and can attach/detach the rotor to/from the stator easily when the rotor is sopping without using a special member or assembling method. SOLUTION: The spindle motor 1 has a turntable 2, a rotor 3, and a stator 4 wherein the rotary portion 3 is attached to the stationary portion 4 by passing an engaging portion 33 having a pawl portion 332 bending to project toward the lower surface at the disc portion 321 of the rotor case 32 of the rotor 3 through a recess 44 formed in the flange portion 421 of the housing 42 of the stator 4, and the pawl portion 332 and the recess 44 are formed not to overlap in the axial direction when the rotary portion 3 is stopping.
