A filter bank for extracting a doppler frequency in a target detector and a method thereof are provided to perform an efficient operation and processing by using an efficient combinational logic. A target detector transmits an electric wave to a moving target, and measures a moving speed of the target by using a reflected wave from the target. An A/D converter(10) converts a signal received from the target. A matched filter(20) determines a frequency matched in the converted signal. A range gate(30) receives a signal determined in the matched filter, and is divided into each different range according to a distance between the target and the target detector. The target detector calculates the distance between the target and the target detector by using the range gate, and estimates a frequency of a signal reflected from the target according to a filtering frequency range of a narrow band pass filter outputting a signal among narrow band pass filters(40) connected to each range gate.
