A shift register is provided to reduce power consumption and the deterioration of a circuit by selectively supplying a clock signal to an operating shift resister only. A liquid crystal display device has n stages in one side of an array region(55) inside a liquid crystal display panel(50) and receives a first signal(51) and a second signal(52). A shift register includes a first shift register(53) and a second shift register(54). N stages are divided into the first and second shift registers. The first shift register receives a first driving signal and the second shift register receives a second driving signal. The first driving signal includes a first start pulse, a first high potential driving voltage, a first low potential driving voltage, and a plurality of clock signals. The second driving signal includes a second start pulse, a second high potential driving voltage, a second low potential driving voltage and the plurality of clock signals. The first and second shift registers are arranged in one side of a substrate include a plurality of stages generating the output successively.
