<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a print system allowing an operator to easily recognize completion of print processing. <P>SOLUTION: A host computer 2 has: a print job transmission means for transmitting a print job; and a notification control command transmission means for operating in asynchronization with the print job transmission means, and transmitting a print job ID and a notification control command. A printer 3 has: a print job reception means for receiving the print job; a printing means 48 for performing printing; a print job completion detection means for detecting execution completion of the print job; a notification control command reception means for receiving the notification control command; a storage means 53 for storing the notification control command; a notification means 46 for performing notification based on the notification control command; and a first notification distinction means for distinguishing presence/absence of the notification control command including the same print job ID as the print job with the detection of the print job completion detection means as a trigger.
