<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deep groove ball bearing and a preload applying method therefor capable of suppressing a cage sound. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The direction for applying a preload to an inner ring 2 of the deep groove ball bearing 1 having the inner ring 2 having an inner ring raceway surface 2a, an outer ring 3 having an outer ring raceway surface 3a, a plurality of rolling elements 4 rollingly arranged between the inner ring raceway surface 2a and the outer ring raceway surface 3a and a crown-shaped cage 5 for holding the plurality of rolling elements 4 between the inner ring raceway surface 2a and the outer ring raceway surface 3a and having a guide 6 to an outer peripheral surface 2b of the inner ring 2 or an inner peripheral surface 3b of the outer ring 3 is set in the opposite direction of the direction for arranging the guide 6 in the axial direction.
