ESCALATOR SAFETY APPARATUS AND CONTROLLING METHOD THEREOF

The present invention provides an escalator safety apparatus and a controlling method thereof, which prevent the occurrence of a safety accident by visually guiding an entry of users so as to stand in two lines when using an escalator, and providing a guide sound for notifying a dangerous situation so that a user quickly moving in the escalator moves at a safety speed. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the escalator safety apparatus comprises: a display unit which is installed at an entry platform of an escalator and guides an entry in at least one of a left direction and a right direction of the escalator; a sensor unit which senses users getting on and off the escalator in the left direction or the right direction thereof; a server unit which measures the number of the users getting on the escalator in the left direction thereof and the number of the users getting on the escalator in the right direction thereof according to a signal transmitted from the sensor unit, calculates a difference value between the number of the users getting on the escalator in the left direction thereof and the number of the users getting on the escalator in the right direction thereof, and compares the difference value with a set allowable value; and a control unit which controls the display unit according to the comparison result of the difference value and the set allowable value in the server unit.
