There is provided apparatus and a method for providing data for a plurality of television and/or radio channels to a plurality of users. One or more data feeds can be received from the same or different transmission systems such as satellite broadcast and a distribution network is provided to distribute the data to a plurality of user locations allowing a user at each of the user locations to independently select to receive data for one or more channels at their location. The apparatus and method relates to the selective formation of a distribution unit such as a GTU by connecting a first data feed to a base modular unit in which the data is combined so as to be available from a plurality of output connection ports on the base modular unit to the plurality of users. The base modular unit includes a plurality of input connection ports for the selective connection to output ports of a further modular unit with a further data feed and so on with further modular units until apparatus of the required capacity is formed, with data from all of the data feeds being available from the output ports of the base modular units to all of the users connected thereto. |
