A wall comprises columns 1 (e.g. I-section beams) to which are connected slabs 3, 4, 5 in successive courses and wherein each slab has a rebated lower portion 9 which overlaps the rebated upper portion 8 of the underlying slab. The space between two vertically adjacent slabs in different courses is filled with an elastomeric seal 10. The slabs are of concrete in the preferred embodiment, and are attached to the columns 1 by tie plates 6 secured by bolts 7 screwed into sockets welded to the slab reinforcement.</p> |
