Mixtures of polyester and cellulose fibres are dyed by a) applying an alkaline solution of a coupling component, a diazoamino or tetrazoamino compound or an anti-diazotate and a wetting or dispersing agent b) drying, c) impregnating with an acid solution containing a disperse dye d) drying, e) heating the fibre mixture. The wetting and dispersing agents used may be condensation products of fatty acids and protein degradation products or aminoalkylsulphonic acid or condensation products of formaldehyde and naphthalene sulphonic acids as well as purified sulphite cellulose waste liquor. Acid compounds used in the developing bath include formic, acetic, propionic, lactic, glycollic, citric, and tartaric acids and monosodium phosphate and ammonium chloride. The heat treatment is preferably at 170-210‹C.
