PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To store the total number of operating times of each component and the record data of replaceable/irreplaceable component independently by counting the number of times of identical operation through both first and second means and making alterable the count of the first means. SOLUTION: A CPU 2 loads the count of operating times stored in a flash ROM 5 to an RAM 3 when a printer 1 is started. Subsequently, the operating times are counted by updating the data in the RAM 3. The count is written in the flash ROM 5 and stored at a specified timing. The operations for which the number of operating times is counted and stored in the flash ROM 5 include the number of feeding lines of a cut sheet, the number of characters to be printed, and the like. The printer 1 comprises two independent counters being updated, respectively, for one operation wherein one counter can be altered with one control command but the other counter can not be altered. |
