摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an upstream control sequence in a new molanocotin-1 receptor gene which is composed of a control active polynucleotide arising from melanocortin-1 receptor gene and is useful for screening out substances which affect the biosynthesis of melanin pigments. SOLUTION: This upstream control sequence is a new polynucleotide, which consists of a control active polynucleotide arising from melanocortin-1 receptor gene and contains the nucleotide sequence of nucleotide 2685-2919 in the formula, the nucleotide sequence of nucleotide 2272-2730 in the formula or the nucleotide sequence that is modified by adding, deleting and/or substituting one or plural nucleotides to either of these nucloetide sequences and maintains the control activity equal to the correspondent natural nucleotide sequence, and is useful as a promoter or the like used for screening out or the like substances which affect the biosynthesis of melanin pigments. This polynucleotide is obtained by PCR-amplifying a genomic DNA library arising from human melanosite with a primer of the partial sequence.
