PURPOSE:To increase PV value by providing a seal end surface with an arbitrary number of substantially straight grooves orthogonal to the radial direction of the end surface. CONSTITUTION:The seal end surface S is provided with an arbitrary number of substantially straight grooves M orthogonal to the radial direction of the end surface. When a seal ring 7 is rotated in direction of an arrow A, a sealed-in fluid X is forced to flow into the grooves M from the direction of an arrow B and flow out in direction of an arrow C by derivation based upon the viscosity of the sealed-in fluid X. The sealed-in fluid in the grooves M is conducted into the seal end surface S by the viscosity derivation caused by rotation of a face 8. Accordingly, the thickness of fluid film in the seal end surface S is increased and its pressure is increased to raise load capacity and increase PV value. |
