PURPOSE:To easily determine the twist state of a rubber joint during operation, by providing a detection part by an optical sensor and an operation part operating the signal of said detection part to the input side and output side of the rubber joint. CONSTITUTION:A detection part 6, constituted so that the movements during rotation of the input side and output side of the rubber joint 1 provided between the diesel propelling engine E and speed reducer G of a ship are detected on the basis of pulse signals by optical sensors 4, 5, is provided. The pulse signals detected by the detection part 6 are inputted to an operation part 7 and the delay time between both signals is detected to operate and display the twist angle of the rubber joint 1. The output of the operation part 7 is compared with a preset dangerous twist angle and, if said output reaches the critical twist speed, an alarm signal l3 is outputted to an external alarm apparatus 0. By this method monitoring conforming to an actual use state is performed.
