PURPOSE:To keep a suitable head touch at reproduction, by forming concave curved surfaces having a prescribed radius of curvature at a tip of a magnetic head and grinding both side surfaces in the broadwise direction of track for decreasing the width. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic head is constituted by bonding a ferrite plate at both sides of a thin film 2 of ''Sendust'' alloy and wear resistance members 5, 6 at the tip. The concave curved surface B including a magnetic gap (g) and having Rc of radius of curvature equal to that of a cylindrical surface of a recording medium, and the concave curved surface A having a radius of curvature larger than the Rc, are formed onto the tip of the head. Further, both sides of the concave curved surfaces A, B are ground so that the concave curved surfaces A, B have a uniform width W in the direction of track width and the relation of Wg<W<Wm is satisified, when Wg is the width of effective track of the magnetic gap and Wm is the width of the tip of head in the direction of the track width. Thus, the suitable head touch is kept at its reproduction stage. |
