The invention concerns a method and a device (10) for determining the flow rate of a liquid circulating discontinuously by suction in a piping system (1), which consists in measuring the pressure difference prevailing in said piping system (1) upstream and downstream of a pipe section with elevation of level (12). The pressure difference measured by the pressure sensor (5) is transformed into electric signals, which after being integrated and processed, supply a value proportional to the liquid flow rate. The invention is useful for determining the flow rate of liquid such as milk and water.
