Communication device for use with a respiratory unit, especially a mask, including a microphone elastically connected to an exterior device consisting of a transmitter-receiver and a housing equipped with amplifiers and filters. According to the invention, the microphone (3) is fitted to the mask by means of a tubular end piece (2), an open end of the latter opening into the half mask while the other end is directly closed by the microphone (3) membrane. The signal from the microphone, after elimination of parasitic frequencies, controls the transmitter-receiver's communications mode (transmission or reception) by comparison with a predefined value.
