The device (H) is metal or plastics and is positioned on an upper jaw tooth-model (OK) and-or lower jaw tooth model (UK). It incorporates a measuring body (52) by which dimensions and or shapes are registered for the tooth model or prosthesis. The rear part of an auxiliary device (H) on one or both sides has a sensor element (94) extending outwards in relation to its lengthwise centre plane for scanning the cavity (V) behind the root (T) of the upper jaw tooth model. The sensor element has a connecting arm (91) protruding backwards from the measuring body.
