The package has a casing formed of plastics in two halves which are connected by a hinge and joined along a junction plane (3) to close the package. A strip (4) is fixed by discontinuous welds (5) to the two sections to connect them together. The discontinuous welds can be spot welds. At least one of the two halves can be of expanded plastics foam and has an exterior printed film (6,7) of the same material as the casing but not expanded. A tongue (8) is fixed to the film straddling the joint plane.
