PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for starting a reformer for reforming a hydrocarbon into hydrogen by which the starting time can be shortened without increasing the size of a structure of the apparatus and without complicating the structure. SOLUTION: Only air is fed to a reforming part 10 having a Pd catalyst and an Rh catalyst having the surfaces maintained in a reduced state and the Pd catalyst and Rh catalyst are oxidized to thereby heat up the reforming part 10 with the resultantly generated heat. Thereby, the feed of natural gas heated up to a prescribed temperature is started to further heat up the temperature of the reforming part 10 by the combustion of the natural gas. As a result, the starting time of the reforming part 10 can be shortened. |
