PURPOSE: A device for controlling an address of symbol data for error correction in a DVD(Digital Video Disk) system, is provided to store demodulated symbol data in a memory correspondingly to an ECC(Error Correcting Code) block using location information extracted from bit stream inputted in a play of the DVD, so as to maximize an effect of error correction. CONSTITUTION: A demodulator(20) demodulates bit stream read from a disk of a DVD(Digital Video Disk) system with a DVD standard, to output symbol data. A sync detector(21) draws the bit stream to detect a frame sync and an ID synch. A frame sync number generator(24) draws the frame sync for comparison with a sync frame structure to correct the frame sync, and generates location information of the frame sync. An ID error corrector(22) error-corrects the ID included in the symbol data for outputting. An ID sync number generator(25) draws the ID and the frame sync from the sync detector(21), to generate ID location information. An address generator(26) draws the frame location information and the ID location information, to generate an address of symbol data corresponding to an ECC(Error Correcting Code) block for outputting to a memory(27). And a microcomputer controller(23) controls each unit.
