PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a card reader, which authenticates an IC card with easy operation of the IC card and performs authentication in a high authentieation level, and the IC card. SOLUTION: An antenna 42 which communicates with an IC card 31 without contacting is arranged in a case 43 of a card reader 41. The IC card can communicate by easy operation that it is held over the case and is approximated to the case. Since the IC card is held in a card holding part 44 in position close to the antenna to communicate when the IC card is inserted to the card reader from an insertion hole 47, the card is authenticated in a high authentication level. |
